Transportation Tips
Transporting a reptile to the vet in cold weather requires careful planning to ensure their safety and comfort. First, place the reptile in a secure, well-ventilated travel container, such as a plastic tub or carrier lined with soft towels to prevent injury.

Use a heat source, like a heat pack or warm water bottle wrapped in a towel, to maintain a warm environment, ensuring it doesn’t directly touch the reptile to avoid burns. Cover the container with a blanket to retain heat, but leave small openings for ventilation.

Pre-warm your vehicle before transport and minimize exposure to the cold by moving quickly between your home, the car, and our office. If the trip is lengthy, monitor the temperature in the carrier to make sure it stays within the reptile’s safe range.
